ABOUT THIS PRACTICE Starting with a 2 vs. 1 game, players practice deciding when to pass and when to dribble. Games progress in complexity and numbers so that players learn to use passing as the best way to advance the ball forward. An “End Zone” passing game encourages players to strike penetrating passes behind defenders and into open space. Players learn to move without the ball, maintain ball possession, and create scoring opportunities.
SOCCER CONTEXT Passing makes soccer the beautiful game it is. No team or player can succeed without passing or ball movement. Passing enables teams to maintain ball possession, navigate through defenses, and create goal scoring opportunities. |
